Your friendly Kingston, ON Boudoir photographer here taking the time to go over setbacks and busting excuses when it comes to booking your session.
It is totally normal when we get nervous to make excuses. We’ll sometimes make excuses not to love ourselves or set time aside to care for ourselves. Life can get busy, and that’s fine! We can get busy at work, have to drive around everywhere, or sometimes we just want to spend more time with our partners. But we also use excuses like “I need to drop 10 lbs first!” and “I just don’t have the money now.” So I wanted to write this to show you all that no matter what, you CAN do it! You are worthy of self love.
“I Don’t Have Enough Time For Myself.”
It’s important to remember if you aren’t taking care of and nurturing yourself mentally, you’re not going to be able to handle taking care of everyone else, which makes sense but it’s actually a lot easier said than done. Take it from me – I can be the WORST at setting time aside for myself so that’s what I think it’s important to share this with you. I make the same excuses as above and sometimes I really do need somebody to look me in the eye and say “SLOWWWW DOWN!” breathe, and give yourself a break for a minute.
At a boudoir session, you’re able to breathe and just be, to love yourself for a few hours. Think of all the energy you will save on a daily basis if you stop comparing yourself to others or stop worrying what they think. This is a judgement-free zone and you will get to see where your beauty really comes from and this lifts such a huge mental weight.
“I’m Not Where I Want To Be Weight-wise / I Don’t Fit The Media’s Idea Of A Good Size.”
Did you know that the body type portrayed in the media as “ideal” is only possessed by 5% of the population? Let that sink in.
I will say it again and again, but WHY do we have to be a certain size to love ourselves and our bodies? WHY do we have to compare ourselves to everyone else when no two people are the same?
It’s amazing to have goals, but is it really necessary for us to hate our bodies to do those things? Absolutely NOT! We should love ourselves every step of the way. Be proud of where you are so you can be proud of where you’re going. Have a boudoir shoot to celebrate where you are now and if you want to do it all again if you have goals to reach, we can celebrate you then as well!
“I Don’t Feel Sexy So A Boudoir Shoot Is Not For Me.”
WRONG.
This excuse is the exact reason you SHOULD do a boudoir session.
Often times when life gets crazy we can lose touch with our femininity because of life/work/kids. It happens all the time and that’s okay! A great way to find this side of ourselves is to have a session done to bring back that spark.
Another thing to keep in mind is that you don’t have to bring super sexy lingerie/clothing if you don’t want to. If you feel like this doesn’t show off your personality or it makes you uncomfortable, we can work together to find alternative options or you can take a peek at different outfit ideas here.
“A Boudoir Session Is An Investment And I Don’t Have The Funds Right Now.”
Correct, a boudoir session IS an investment. It is also an investment in yourself. Even if you’re coming in to have the session done as a gift for your partner, you are still investing in your well-being and confidence as well! I do offer payment plans! In order to book your session, there is a booking retainer required, and after that we can get your payment plan set up for the remainder so it might be easier to book. If you have any questions about a session or a payment plan, shoot us an email to info@jackiehallphoto.com to get started!
